Vice City

Vice-Dale County

The neon-soaked heart of Leonida. Ocean Beach and South Beach are the nightlife strips; the Stockyard and Vice City Port are grimy industrial zones ideal for low-profile work. Split into neighborhoods like Little Havana and Little Haiti.

Vice City is the reason this game exists. Rockstar has rebuilt it once before, in 2002, and the version people remember was a compact, stylised cartoon of 1980s Miami — a few square kilometres of pastel and synth. The Leonida version is a modern working city, and that shift changes what the map is for.

What the districts are actually telling you

The named areas break into two groups, and the split is not cosmetic. Ocean Beach and South Beach are the postcard — nightlife, money, people who want to be seen. The Stockyard and Vice City Port are the opposite: industrial, functional, and largely unwatched. Little Havana and Little Haiti sit between them as real residential neighbourhoods with their own character rather than set dressing.

In every GTA that has worked, that contrast is the design. The glamorous half is where you spend money and attract attention; the industrial half is where you earn it and hide. Expect the city to be built so that a job which starts in one ends in the other.

What this probably means for play

This is inference from Rockstar's design history and what has been shown, not confirmed mechanics. But a dense urban core with a port strongly suggests the city is the natural home for the game's bigger set-piece work — the jobs that need crowds to disappear into and vehicles to lose pursuers in. Port districts in particular have historically been where cargo, smuggling, and heist logistics live.

The practical consequence for a player is heat. Police response in a dense downtown is faster and harder to escape than anywhere rural, which is exactly why the quieter regions of Leonida matter — see Port Gellhorn for the other extreme.

What is still unknown

Rockstar has not published a map, so district boundaries, the number of enterable buildings inside the city specifically, and how far the urban area extends are all unconfirmed. The widely repeated figure of 700+ interiors is a map-wide estimate drawn from reporting, not an official per-city count. Treat any video claiming a precise Vice City size as guesswork.
