GTA 6 Launch Trailer: What the 90 Seconds Actually Tell Us
Rockstar dropped the Launch Trailer on October 15 with no warning. The story beat it finally confirms, the new Justice song, and what it deliberately leaves out five weeks before release.
On October 15, 2026, Rockstar released the Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer without any advance teaser. It went up on Rockstar's own channels and its official site at the same time, runs about 90 seconds, and, like everything Rockstar has shown recently, was captured in-game on a PlayStation 5.
It is the third proper trailer after Trailer 1 in December 2023 and Trailer 2 in May 2025, if you count the August 27 Extended Look as a showcase rather than a trailer. And it is a very different kind of video from the Extended Look. That one explained systems. This one sells a mood, and it is built to run on television and in cinemas over the next five weeks.
The story beat it confirms
The most useful thing in the trailer is a single scene: Lucia calling Jason from jail. Multiple outlets report the same moment, and it settles the order of events fans have argued about since Trailer 1. Lucia is inside when the story starts, Jason is outside, and the two reconnect before the main events begin.
The trailer also gives Jason a line about his past, saying he got in trouble in the army and did not leave on the best of terms. That fits the biography Rockstar published in 2025, where the Army was his way out of a bad adolescence, and it tells you the exit did not go to plan either. We cover how the two leads start in our piece on the story so far.
Rockstar's description of the game has not changed: an easy score goes wrong, and the two are pulled into a criminal conspiracy that spreads across Leonida. The trailer illustrates that rather than explaining it.
A more personal Jason and Lucia
Several outlets picked up on how much of the trailer is about the couple rather than the crimes, including an intimate scene between them. It is a deliberate choice for a launch trailer. Rockstar has spent three years establishing Leonida, the cast and the systems. The last pitch before release is about the two people at the centre, which matches the previews' description of a relationship that you actually build in the game.
The action is still there, in quick cuts: shootouts, explosions and a chase. None of it shows a new mechanic, which is exactly what the trailer is not for.
The music: Justice, and why that matters
The trailer debuts “Flower in a Hurricane” by Justice featuring Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard. Rockstar's own post credits Justice as the composers of GTA 6's original score, and the song is out as a single and will be part of the official soundtrack release.
That is a bigger detail than it looks. Licensed radio is what everyone remembers about Vice City, but the score is what plays under missions, chases and quiet moments, and it shapes how the game feels for hours at a time. GTA 5's score was a collaboration between several composers. Handing GTA 6's to one well-known electronic act gives the game a single sonic identity, and on the evidence of this trailer it leans toward big, emotional electronic music rather than straight action cues.
What it leaves out
No new mechanics. If you want to know how the wanted system, car theft or the relationship work, the Extended Look and its previews are still the source. Our breakdown of the Extended Look sorts what was shown from what was only described.
No PC date. Some coverage repeats an expected PC release in 2027, but nothing in the trailer or Rockstar's post announces one. The launch platforms are still PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S.
No online details, and no unlock times or install size. The trailer closes on the date, November 19, and that is all the scheduling information it gives.
What happens next
A launch trailer usually means the marketing has moved from explaining to reminding. Expect it on television and in cinemas, and expect the next concrete news to be practical: unlock times by region, the download size and the preload on November 12. When those arrive, our countdown and console checker update with them.
The dates are unchanged. Preloading opens on November 12, the game launches on November 19, and the Vintage Vice City Pack is tied to purchases made by November 20. If you have not checked whether the game will fit on your console yet, now is a good time.
