Is GTA 6 Coming to PC? What Take-Two Has Said, What's Only Reported, and the Real Timeline Math

GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Here is every on-record Take-Two comment about PC, the Q1 2027 report and how much weight it deserves, what Rockstar's past ports suggest, and what PC players should do in the meantime.

GTA 6 comes out on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S. There is no PC version on that date, and as of October 28 neither Rockstar nor its parent company Take-Two has announced one. That is the only hard fact. Everything else about GTA 6 on PC is a mix of on-record hints from Take-Two's chief executive, one sourced press report, and arithmetic based on Rockstar's older games.

This guide separates those three layers, because most "GTA 6 PC release date" headlines blend them together. It also covers what a PC player can sensibly do between now and an announcement, and what to ignore.

What is official right now

Rockstar's own announcements list consoles only. The Newswire post that moved the game to November 19, 2026, the Extended Look post from August 27 and the Launch Trailer post from October 15 all name PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two's June 24 pre-order announcement, which set the Standard Edition at $79.99, has no PC edition either. There is no Steam page, no Epic Games Store page and no Rockstar Games Launcher listing.

Two related points also come from official sources. Preloading on November 12 is for digital console purchases. And the free month of GTA+ that comes with digital pre-orders is tied to the PlayStation or Xbox store you bought on, so it gives no benefit to a future PC copy.

What Take-Two's CEO has said on the record

Strauss Zelnick, Take-Two's chief executive, has talked about PC several times without announcing anything. The comments are consistent with each other, and they are the closest thing to an official position.

In February 2025, speaking to IGN, he said the company does not always release on every platform at the same time, and that the PC version of a multiplatform game can bring in around 40% of its sales.

In May 2026, in a Bloomberg interview reported by PC Gamer, GamesRadar+ and others, he put the figure higher: for a big title, PC "can be 45, 50% of the sales." He explained the console-first launch as Rockstar serving its core audience first, and he said a reported marketing deal with Sony was not the reason. That second part matters, because it rules out the most common fan theory about why PC is missing.

At Take-Two's annual shareholder meeting on September 17, 2026, a question about PS5 Pro supply turned into a question about PC timing. Zelnick said the strategy is to launch on any platform with a meaningful audience, and that PC is becoming more and more important to the company over time. Screen Rant and GameSpot both reported the comments. He gave no date.

Read together, these statements say a PC version makes obvious commercial sense and that the delay is a choice about order, not a platform deal. They do not say when.

The Q1 2027 report, and how much to trust it

On October 13, 2026, GamesBeat reported that Rockstar plans to release GTA 6 on PC in the first quarter of 2027, citing four unnamed sources familiar with the studio's plans. Rockstar declined to comment. Engadget, Dexerto, KitGuru, TweakTown and PC Games Hardware all relayed the story the same week, but they were repeating GamesBeat rather than adding their own sources, so it is one report with wide coverage, not several independent confirmations.

GamesBeat is an established trade outlet and four sources is more than most leaks have, so this is the strongest PC timing claim so far. It is still a report. Take-Two's published product list only shows the console versions. Until Rockstar posts it, treat "early 2027" as plausible, not scheduled.

Earlier claims are weaker. In April 2026 a leaker using the name DetectiveSeeds pointed to February 2027, citing former Rockstar staff, which PC Games Hardware mentions as background. An older prediction of an early 2026 PC port came from Corsair's chief executive, was speculation, and is now simply out of date.

What Rockstar's past ports suggest

Rockstar's two most recent open-world games both reached PC later, and the gaps are on public record.

GTA 5 launched on PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 17, 2013. The PC version arrived on April 14, 2015, about 19 months later.

Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on PS4 and Xbox One on October 26, 2018. Rockstar announced the PC version on October 4, 2019, and it came out on November 5, 2019, just over a year after consoles.

Applied to November 19, 2026, the RDR2 gap points to late 2027 and the GTA 5 gap to mid-2028. That is why many earlier guides, including our own platform summary until this week, mentioned 2028. The GamesBeat report would mean a much shorter gap of roughly two to four months. That would be unusual for Rockstar, but neither older port is a perfect template: GTA 5 also had PS4 and Xbox One versions released in between, and RDR2 reached PC with added content.

One more detail from the RDR2 case: Rockstar announced the PC version only about a month before release. If the company follows that pattern, a PC announcement could come with little warning, and the lack of news today does not rule out an early 2027 date.

What PC players should do now

Do not pay for anything labelled as a PC copy. There is no official PC version to sell, so any "GTA 6 PC download", "PC beta key" or "Steam pre-order" offered today is a scam or malware. Files passed around as leaked development builds are a related risk; TweakTown has warned that some of them contain malware.

Do not buy hardware for GTA 6 PC yet. Rockstar has published no PC system requirements, and there is no official frame rate or resolution target even for consoles. Spec charts circulating online are guesses. The safe move is to wait for the official requirements and the first technical analysis after a real announcement.

Do not count on streaming it to a PC. There is no official word that GTA 6 will be playable through Xbox Cloud Gaming or PlayStation streaming on a computer at launch. If you want to play in November, you need a console.

If you buy on console now, know that nothing official links a console purchase to a later PC copy. Rockstar has not announced cross-progression or cross-buy, and with GTA 5 and RDR2 the PC version was a separate purchase.

If you plan to wait, there is an upside. Rockstar's PC versions have historically arrived with the console launch patches already folded in. The main cost of waiting is spoilers, and muting a handful of keywords on social media handles most of that. Our launch checklist covers spoiler filters and the scams to avoid.

Where the online mode fits in

The online successor to GTA Online is a separate question. Rockstar has not named it, dated it or confirmed which platforms it will be on. Reports about its timing contradict each other, so we do not treat any of them as fact, and no source with a real track record has tied it to the PC release of the story game.

What changed on this site

Our platform fact card previously said analysts projected a PC version around 2028. With the October 13 GamesBeat report now the most specific claim available, the card and our Everything We Know article now describe both: no announcement from Rockstar, a sourced report of early 2027, and older analyst estimates based on past ports. We will update this page when Rockstar or Take-Two posts anything official about PC.
